Wild Nest is a Wild West–themed blind-box toy featuring six collectible birds: three good guys and three villains. Designed primarily for kids aged 9–11, the concept brings character, rivalry, and the surprise of collecting together in one playful product.

  1. 001The Brief

    Designing a toy for boys aged 9–11 was a broad brief, so the challenge was finding a concept that could connect with both kids and their parents. I also wanted the characters to appeal to young adult collectors, giving the toy a little more staying power than a one-time surprise.

  2. 002The Thinking

    I researched existing toys and collectible figures to understand what made them appealing and how their packaging contributed to the experience. The Wild West theme gave the concept a clear world to build around, while pairing each good bird with a rival villain gave the six characters a reason to exist together.

  3. 003The Making

    I designed all six characters, developed their personalities and stories, and built the visual identity around their shared world. I then used AI-assisted 3D software to turn my sketches into 3D models, before developing the packaging, dielines, renders, and mockups to bring the concept together.

  4. 004The Result

    Wild Nest became a complete blind-box toy concept, featuring six original bird characters divided into rival heroes and villains. From the character artwork to the 3D figures and packaging, each part was developed to feel like part of the same collectible world.
